NC School Report Card Welcome Letters

Dear Students, Teachers and Staff, Parents and Community Members,

On behalf of the Person County Board of Education, I encourage you to review the Person County Schools 2015 – 2016 School Report Card. The NC School Report Card is an important part of the State Board of Education and the Department of Public Instruction’s efforts to raise learning standards for all students. Knowledge gained from the report card, showing strengths and weaknesses, can and will be used to improve instruction and services to our students.

Not only will you find data about each of our 10 schools and district but you will also be able to compare Person County’s data with North Carolina’s other 114 districts and the state as a whole.

In viewing the district and school report cards you will find information regarding student performance, performance on end-of-grade and end-of-course testing, graduation rates, school discipline, school safety funds spent per student, student demographics, teacher qualifications, school and class size and principal qualifications.

As you review the school report cards, I encourage you to look deeper into the information provided, beyond the school performance grade, for a more accurate reflection of the quality education received in our schools.  Just as no single grade tells the whole story of a student, neither does this grade tell you everything about the performance of our schools or the opportunities we provide.

The mission of the Person County Schools is to prepare students for success in a changing world.  We are continually working on improving student achievement. In order to progress and reach this goal, every student, parent, staff member and stakeholder must be involved in our schools. We are, and must continue to be, committed to providing the highest quality education for every student. We are all a “Community of Learners”.  Ultimately, the goal for every student is to graduate prepared to compete in a global society and to lead productive lives.

Please contact the principal at a specific school with any questions or feedback regarding a report card or school performance grade.  Better yet, we invite you to visit our schools to witness the tremendous hard work of our administrators and teachers to provide world-class opportunities for every student in our community.

Thank you for your continued support of the Person County Schools!
