Seventy-three fifth grade students in the PCS AIG program recently took a “first look” at college. The AIG students and their teachers, Annette Taylor, Jenni Puryear, and Laura Pryor, visited the UNC-CH campus and participated in UNC’s First Look, an initiative to increase college awareness and access to higher educational options. First Look is designed for students to experience the culture of college by spending time with and learning from actual college students. The program included a small group session with current Carolina undergraduates on the different aspects of college life. The PCS group was also given a personalized tour of the campus visiting landmarks, libraries, classrooms, lecture halls, and other points of interest. After lunch on Franklin Street, the group experienced the athletic side of college life by visiting the Carolina Basketball Museum. Everyone definitely enjoyed their day on the UNC campus!
