Elementary Education

The Person County Schools Elementary Instructional Program is based on the Standard Course of Study prescribed by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.  While being committed to academic excellence, our most critical responsibility is to prepare students for life in a changing world.  We are committed to providing the highest quality education for all of our students based on the requirements set forth by North Carolina and the Person County School Board.

Our elementary teachers are committed to providing a caring and nurturing environment where our students can successfully learn to be productive citizens. They deliver instruction in a manner suitable for each individual student.  Student progress is monitored and assessed on a regular basis in order to provide the student with ample support and guidance.

The Elementary Education Department supports teachers and schools in providing a quality program for every elementary student in Person County Schools.  The department helps schools develop a quality curriculum and research-based instructional practices in order to establish a solid educational foundation for every student.

Support of teachers and schools include:
*Creating curriculum and support guides
*Delivering professional development
*Reviewing and providing materials and resources to support instruction
*Analyzing and interpreting data
*Creating benchmark and other formative assessments
*Supporting the implementation and delivery of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study
